Huskies take Series vs Seahawks 2-1 behind dominant pitching performance from Dominguez

There are two well known pitching cliches in baseball. One momentum is as good as your next days starting pitcher, and the second is the teams ace is in charge of stopping a losing spell and lead his team to a win.
On Saturday, Francisco "Paco" Dominguez proved both to be true.
Having split the first two games of the three game set with Los Angeles Harbor College, Huskies Coach Alec Adame handed the ball to Dominguez and the ace turned in a dominant performance, throwing a complete game 6-0 shutout to lead the Huskies to the series win over the Seahawks.
Dominguez threw all nine innings, finishing at 100 pitches on the dot, allowing only five hits and striking out ten Seahawks. Thanks to his economical pitch count and some nifty defense, Dominguez faced the minimum number of batters through six innings. The Seahawks only managed multiple baserunners in one inning.
As if sensing that Dominguez would be on his A-Game, the Huskies went to work early to help their pitcher out. The first three batters reached base, followed by Ruben Hernandez being hit by a pitch, and a bases loaded walk from Alex Mendez to score the first two runs. A Fielders choice from Gavin Vogel would bring in the third run and the Huskies led 3-0 before the chairs were warm. Hernandez would add a second RBI in the 4th inning for a four run lead. The Huskies would add two fifth inning runs when Vogel and Daniel Vierra scored on two wild pitches.
The day belonged to Dominguez who threw the best game from a Huskies pitcher so far this season. The Huskies improved to 3-3 in conference play and have split their first two series in conference.
Up Next, The Huskies face Compton in a three game set. The Huskies will host Compton on Tuesday March 7th and Saturday March 11th and will visit Compton on Thursday March 9th.
