Throughout most of this season, East Long Angeles College women's soccer has been taking their rebuild step-by-step, and brick by brick.
First, re-introducing basic game-to-game competitiveness regardless of the score. Next, being able to score goals against any level of 3C2A competition while and not bleeding goals left and right. In many ways this season's squad has begun to turn the corner, and they can now add a pretty big brick - or cornerstone even - to the rebuild: securing a long-awaited conference win.
Not taking Compton College's record for granted, the Pack (5-9-3, 1-3-2) jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first half, and added two more goals in the second half for a convincing 4-0 win against the rebranded Coyotes (4-6-3, 0-4-2). Sophomore MF Jennifer Galardo stacked onto her team lead in scoring with three goals and an assist (12 goals, nine assists on the year). Sophomore D Sandy Padron also found the back of the net for her first goal of the season.
"Big milestone for the program", commented interim head coach Ramon Rivas.
