Neither home nor road has provided much comfort for East LA College women's volleyball so far this season. But they found a Cubs' den cozy enough for them snap their losing streak, as East LA (2-13, 1-1) swept LA City College (1-11, 0-2) in straight sets. It's the first conference win for the Huskies on the season. Frosh OH Isabelle Arrizon (11 kills, two aces) and soph LIB Susan Santana (eight kills, five aces) tallied 13 points apiece to lead the Pack's attack.
From the outset, ELAC set the tone. In the first set they built a lead and held L.A. City to 16 points. The second set was a bit tighter, but the Huskies kept pressure on their opponents and prevented any sustained rallies. In the third, ELAC broke things open, winning decisively 25–13 to seal the sweep.
With 16 attack erros, L.A. City's offense could never get in gear. Meanwhile ELAC's balanced attack, solid serving, and defensive consistency anchored the victory. The road Green had their highest team K% of the season (.377) with both Arrizon sisters (Isabele and Samantha) killing over 50% of their attacks (.529 and .571 respectively).
