Liu Takes 200m as Huskies' Sprinters Shine in San Diego
by Cerwin D Haynes
East LA Men's Track & Field made their annual appearance at the Arnie Robinson Invite in San Diego, where they continued to flash their State-contending speed while showing their depth amongst multiple events.
Sophomore sprinter William Liu once again proved to be one of state's best sprinters. He won the 200m outright with a time of 21.29 (PB), and took second in the 100m (10.52, PB). Fellow soph Crisitian Dineros was close behind him in both sprints, finishing fifth in the 100m (10.73, PB) and sixth in the 200m (21.82, PB) — continuing to prove that ELAC's top-end sprint depth is legit. The Pack also took third in the 4x100 relay, with the team of Liu, Dineros, Justin Guerriero and Sean Lawson clocking in at 41.56, a strong time that should mark them as clear South Coast Conference contenders.
East LA also had three runners in the top-12 for the 5000m:
- 10th – Rey De Gante — 16:41.46 (PB)
- 11th – Daniel Araya — 16:41.95 (PB)
- 12th – Angel M. Santiago — 16:58.16 (PB)
Freshman Carter Cousins continues to bring ELAC back into the 400m hurdles scene. His PB of 56.35 was good for eigth overall.
