A Boyle Heights native, Rodriguez grew up in the local community before competing in rugby at New Mexico Highlands University, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management and Construction Management.

He began his coaching career at Blair High School in South Pasadena as the Offensive Line and Run Game Coordinator before moving to Albuquerque, New Mexico, where he coached linebackers at Rio Grande High School. Returning to Los Angeles, Rodriguez spent multiple seasons at Bishop Mora Salesian High School, first working with the varsity linebackers and serving as JV Defensive Coordinator, then later as Run Game Coordinator and Offensive Line Coach. He went on to lead the offense at Maya Angelou High School as Offensive Coordinator before returning to Salesian to help guide the Mustangs’ program.

At the junior college level, Rodriguez coached at Long Beach City College as the Offensive Line Coach and Offensive Recruiting Coordinator, where he helped establish one of the most productive pipelines in Southern California, sending dozens of players to the four-year level. Now at East Los Angeles College, he continues his commitment to player development, leading the offense and quarterbacks.

In addition to his high school and college coaching roles, Rodriguez has also developed elite youth talent, with several of his players ranked among the top high school prospects nationally. Off the field, he is a devoted husband and father of two sons, Rj and Liam.
